PASSPORTS

General Application Information:

The Clerk of the Superior Court  is the local authorized United States passport acceptance agency for Appling County.  We are currently accepting applications during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We do not require appointments for passports.

Who May Apply for a Passport:
A U.S. passport may be issued to a citizen or national of the United States. Unless specifically authorized by a passport issuing office, no person may have more than one valid or potentially valid U.S. passport of the same type at any one time.

Required Application Form:
Passport Application Form DS-11 must be completed and executed in person before a passport agent by an applicant applying for a passport for the first time or a person not otherwise eligible to use Form DS-82, “Application for Passport by Mail.” Information for completing the application form is below. To complete an online DS-11 (passport application) form, go to US Department Of State web page.

To Apply for A U.S. Passport​:

Submit the following to the Clerk of Appling Superior Court:

  • Completed passport application (DS-11), which may be obtained from the Clerk’s office.

  • Certified copy of birth certificate or Naturalization 

  • One passport photo (2″x2″) - Can be purchased locally at CVS or Walmart

  • Proof of identity (picture identification, such as driver’s license, etc.).

  • For children under the age of 16, both parents must appear in person and sign the passport application except in extenuating circumstances (more information can be accessed online on the U.S. Department of State's website). 


FEES

Fees for passport applications are established by the U.S. Department of State and are not controlled by the local acceptance agency. Our fees do not include photos.

For U.S. citizens: U.S. Passport Book for First Time Applicants and Minors: (Air, Land, & Sea Travel):

Adults: (Good for 10 Years)

Passport Book Fee for Adults (Age 16 and older) - (Payable to US Department of State) $130

Acceptance Fee - (Payable to Appling County Clerk of Court) $35

Minors: (Good for 5 Years)

Passport Book Fee for Minors (Under age 16) - (Payable to US Department of State) $100

Acceptance Fee - (Payable to Appling County Clerk of Court) $35

 

U.S. Passport Card for First Time Applicants and Minors: (Land & Sea Travel)

Adults: 

Passport Card Fee for Adults (age 16 and over) - (Payable to US Department of State) $30 

Acceptance Fee - (Payable to Appling County Clerk of Court) $35

Minors:

Passport Card Fee for Minors (Under age 16) - (Payable to US Department of State) $15
